Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found unresponsive early Thursday morning next to an abandoned home in southwest Atlanta.

Before 5 a.m., a man walking between homes in the 900 block of Mayson Turner Road found the woman unclothed and barely breathing, police said.

"The person was unresponsive at first, and EMTs were able to locate a slight pulse," Atlanta police Det. George Denkins said. "The person was transported to Grady Hospital while paramedics were performing CPR, and the person was pronounced deceased at Grady."

Police arriving on the scene interviewed the man who called for help and combed the area in search of any clues that might identify the woman.

Police homicide unit commander Lt. Paul Guerrucci said there was no obvious trauma, and the cause of death is undetermined, pending the results of an autopsy.

The woman remains unidentified, and police continue to investigate.
