The Henry County Board of Education received a report at its June 8 meeting regarding plans for the Aug. 3 scheduled on-campus opening of the 2020-2021 school year.

New health and safety guidelines from state officials are being implemented, with more details to come next month, according to superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis. Students who wish to continue remote learning will have the option to do so, and a survey is going out within days to gauge interest across the district in advance of mid-July registration.

Contingency plans are being formed in case the state mandates campus closings this fall and a return to district-wide remote learning as was the case during the recent COVID-19 shutdown.
