A woman struck by an alleged drunken driver as she crossed a Buckhead street early Sunday herself faces a charge, Atlanta police said.

The woman was jaywalking in front of The Ivy, a restaurant at 3717 Roswell Road, at 12:32 a.m. when she was hit by a pickup truck that left the scene, police said. An off-duty Atlanta police officer working as a security officer at the restaurant witnessed the accident.

Police did not immediately identify the woman, who was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The extent of her injuries was not known.

Police closed Roswell Road after the accident and began searching for the truck that hit the woman. Officers later found the vehicle in a parking lot across the street from the restaurant. The truck had what police called "significant" front-end damage. Police arrested the driver, whose name was not available Sunday, for driving under the influence and other traffic-related charges.

The woman was charged with failure to use a cross walk.
