Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument closer to funding goals

The Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association has secured 26 percent of the estimated $500,000 needed for the design, construction, sculpture materials and administrative expenses needed to complete the project. With the support of city officials, the organization plans to reach out this fall to the 2,300 businesses located in Peachtree Corners to solicit donations to support the construction.

With an anticipated opening in 2018, the project is one of several dedicated public spaces in the city’s new Town Green project. The monument, designed to be much more than a memorial to American warriors, will contain an interactive kiosk and smart phone app with information about the sculptures, seating, wall caps, brick locator, veterans of Peachtree Corners and links to additional educational opportunities.

An information session to learn details of the project will be held 7 to 8 p.m. July 25 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5575 Peachtree Parkway.
