Since Peachtree Corners released architectural design drawings earlier this year for a pedestrian bridge to cross over Peachtree Parkway between the Forum shopping center and the city’s future Town Center, feedback has been divided. Some see the dramatic design as an opportunity for a signature landmark and others believe the bridge does not fit the community.
While a citizen committee was formed to view a number of designs, a final decision on the bridge has not been made. As a result, the city will hold a community meeting to review the designs and allow citizen input at 7 p.m. March 31 at City Hall, 147 Technology Parkway.
Mayor Mike Mason released information this week outlining reasons for the pedestrian bridge. Pedestrian safety crossing the busy Peachtree Parkway is noted as the most important reason as the city anticipates a great deal of traffic between the city’s primary retail shopping area and the new Town Center.
