Peachtree City police will be able to patrol the local cart paths with pizazz following the addition of a Smart car to their fleet. The City Council voted 5-0 recently to spend $8,000 of state forfeiture funds for a 2014 Smart Fortwo vehicle formerly used by the Norcross Police Department.
The car is already equipped with emergency lights. Peachtree City will add graphics and a siren. Police Chief Janet Moon said the car fits on all the paths and tunnels, but has street capabilities for responding to other calls as well. Annual maintenance and fuel will cost an estimated $800.
