Traffic congestion between Fayette and Coweta counties continues to be a problem in Peachtree City, but the City Council doesn’t think extending TDK Boulevard is the solution.

The council voted 5-0 on March 21 to approve a resolution asking the Fayette County Board of Commissioners to remove from its Comprehensive Transportation Plan any extension of TDK Boulevard from its current endpoint in the city’s industrial park into Coweta County. Such an extension would create a thoroughfare that would connect with Crosstown Drive, which City Manager Jon Rorie said would not alleviate congestion at Ga. Hwy. 74/54 but would “simply move one problem to another area.”

However, the resolution also states that Peachtree City wants to meet with representatives from both counties within the context of the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Three Rivers Planning Commission to identify other solutions to east-west traffic.
