Peachtree City’s skatepark is getting both a new look and a new location.

The City Council voted 5-0 on Nov. 2 to award $115,000 to 5th Pocket Skateparks to design and build a 4,050-square-foot facility at the Glenloch Recreation Complex. The current skatepark in the McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex, called “pretty beat up” by Recreation & Special Events Director Quinn Bledsoe, will be demolished. The new park was designed with input from local skaters and will be made from concrete instead of asphalt to improve function and durability. Funding will come from Facilities Bond sources. The city expects to break ground next month, with completion expected about 90 days later.
