Verizon Wireless has been given approval to install a new “monopine” communications tower next to the parking lot of Peachtree City’s Riley Field, off Wisdom Road.

The tower’s tree-shaped design will be similar to one already on the grounds of Peachtree City Church of Christ on Peachtree Parkway. The City Council voted 5-0 recently to grant the five-year lease, which will bring the city $22,200 per year in rental revenue. The tower will improve cell service in the area for commercial customers as well as public safety employees.
