Peachtree City has agreed to put a referendum on its Nov. 6 ballot to let residents decide if they want any bubbly with their brunch.

The City Council voted 5-0 on July 19 to put forward the question of whether to allow sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages by the drink from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. Current law already allows liquor sales after 12:30 p.m., but the Georgia General Assembly passed a “brunch bill” earlier this year to allow municipalities to decide whether to permit earlier Sunday sales.

If passed by a simple majority of voters, such sales would begin on Nov. 11.
