Two Peachtree City subdivisions will get their streets repaved ahead of schedule.

The City Council voted 5-0 on Sept. 19 to add $500,000 to the current contract with Atlanta Paving and Concrete to include Calgary Place and Muirfield (located on opposite sides of Braelinn Road) on the list of 2019 paving projects, although both were not originally scheduled until next year. The change amounts to a 10.4 percent increase in the $4.8 million contract. City Manager Jon Rorie said that this year’s paving projects ended up being under budget, and favorable contract pricing allowed for some extra work.

The city has allocated $1.8 million from its general fund for annual paving, with the rest of the funds coming from special purpose local option sales tax revenue. Future paving costs could be affected by increases in global oil prices.
