Atlanta parents, there is more “Curious George” to go around.
PBS, the nation's go-to station for children's educational programming, announced Tuesday morning it will launch a 24/7 streaming service that will include a new digital live channel and better access to kids' favorite shows – like "Dinosaur Train," "Peg + Cat" and more – during after-school hours, according to a PBS news release.
Offline, local stations Georgia Public Broadcasting and Public Broadcasting Atlanta will be able to livestream PBS Kids shows 24 hours a day and offer an additional all-day television channel.
Online, viewers will be able to watch the station-branded live stream through the PBS KIDS website and on the PBS KIDS Video app.
“Parents know that PBS KIDS makes a difference in their children’s lives, which is why so many have said they would value having access to our content throughout the day. Television continues to be the most widely used platform for children’s educational content, especially among low-income families,” Paula Kerger, PBS president and CEO, said in a statement. “The new PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live stream offered by local member stations ensure that educational media is available to all families, all the time and via a platform that works for them.”
