The Henry County Zoning Advisory Board voted at its May 23 regular meeting to grant a variance for an apartment complex development on Jonesboro Road near the Henry Town Center retail complex.

The request was to reduce the required number of parking spaces for the development from 446 to 404. The applicant had previously submitted a shared parking agreement to county officials and asked for an administrative waiver, which cannot be more than five percent and thus reduced the parking requirement to 422 spaces. A request was then submitted to the ZAB for further reduction.

A representative of the applicant said the developers “want to maintain the integrity and security of the gated community.”
