The East Atlanta Kids Club Inc. would continue to provide programming at the Brownwood Park Recreation Center under a resolution approved recently by a City Council committee.

If passed by the full Council, the resolution would authorize the mayor’s office to enter into a new, two-year, lease and operating agreement with the nonprofit for after-school and weekend recreational, educational and cultural programs.

The Kids Club provides services at no cost to the city, according to the Community Development & Human Resources Committee resolution.

The nonprofit organization was founded by local residents in 1998 to provide tutoring, mentoring and enrichment services for girls and boys ages 7 to 17. Based at Brownwood, the group works with the Atlanta Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and serves more than 100 children a year.
