The city of Palmetto was recently named one of Georgia’s 50 Safest Cities by Safewise.com, a home safety and security news site. The city’s police department said on its Facebook page that Palmetto made the list for the fourth consecutive year.

Citing the latest available FBI crime data, Safewise said all Georgia cities on its list reported fewer than 40 total violent and property crimes per 1,000 people. In Palmetto’s case, the city reported 3.12 violent crimes per 1,000 and 28.07 property crimes per 1,000.

Palmetto’s rank was 36 this year; previously, it was 24.

Other metro Atlanta cities on the list include Johns Creek; Milton; Peachtree City; Roswell; Alpharetta; Sandy Springs: and Decatur, among others.
