The 27-year-old woman involved in the Oconee County wreck that killed four University of Georgia students asked for continued prayers for the families in a Facebook statement.

Abby Short, of Demorest, was driving home from her job as a paramedic when another car drove into her lane on Ga. 15 the night of April 27. Short was injured in the crash, but able to call 911. Four women in the other car were killed, and a fifth was critically injured.

"Abby Short and her family would like to express to all concerned that we are truly heartbroken and saddened by the loss of precious lives," a statement released Wednesday said. "…We would appreciate everyone continuing to lift the families up in prayer, and ask that God will give them comfort and peace."

Short is recovering from surgery to repair broken bones in her ankle. She thanked emergency responders, medical staff and her co-workers for their efforts from moments after the crash and continuing as she recovers at home.

The Georgia State Patrol has said Agnes Kim, 21, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Ga. 15 when she crossed the center line and into the path of Short’s Chevrolet Cobalt. The crash killed all four passengers in Kim’s car: Kayla Leigh Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Katherine Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Devon Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Grace Scott, 19, of Dunwoody.

Kim was recently moved from Athens Regional Medical Center to Atlanta's Shepherd Center, where treatment continues for a brain injury.
