Bid farewell to roasted marshmellows until October. An open burning ban will go into effect May 1 and last through Sept. 30. During that time residents are not allowed to burn leaves, tree limbs or other yard waste or light fire to the ground for land clearing. Cobb is one of 54 counties in Georgia affected by the ban, issued each year by the Georgia Department of National Resources.
