Atlanta police were investigating a shooting early Monday at a gated apartment complex that left a man dead.
The shooting happened just after midnight at the Allen Hills apartments off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in northwest Atlanta.
Channel 2 Action News reported that a woman answered a knock at the door and four masked men pushed their way into the apartment demanding money.
Responding officers found a man who was “shot at least once in the chest and killed on scene,” Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci told Channel 2.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the dead man as Randy Menefee, 35, of Atlanta.
Channel 2 reported that the intruders fled after the woman gave them $100.
The woman and three children inside the apartment were not injured.
