The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that happened before daybreak Wednesday on I-285 in south Fulton County.

The crash occurred about 5:30 a.m. on I-285 southbound between Camp Creek Parkway and Washington Road.

According to the State Patrol, the driver of a passenger vehicle lost control and struck the back of a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The identity of the deceased motorist was being withheld until relatives could be notified.

Several southbound lanes of I-285 were blocked for about two hours while authorities investigated the wreck.
