The Utilities and Parks Division of the Norcross Department of Public Works has led a campaign to restore the Norcross City Cemetery. Tasks included repair of broken and fallen headstones, training and implementation for proper cleaning and maintenance of existing headstones, and installation of a steel fence around the cemetery’s perimeter, complete with driving and walking gates to keep the cemetery grounds safe and reduce future vandalism.

Future plans include continued cleaning and maintenance of headstones by Public Works and Community Service employees, placement of a new roof on the cemetery pavilion, survey of all headstones for a searchable database and submission to the National Register of Historic Cemeteries.

Plans are underway for an educational tour by local historian Gene Ramsay during the city’s annual cemetery lighting.
