The authors of a well-known technology blog are giving the public a peak at what they claim is a future generation iPhone snagged from computer maker Apple.

"You are looking at Apple's next iPhone," boasts the blog Gizmodo, which posted photos and a video Monday of someone showing off the unit.

It's a little smaller than the current iPhone, the 3GS. Also, in a departure from the line's ground-breaking form, the back is flat rather than curved and made of what looks like glass.

The unit wasn't operational, so the authors at Gizmodo had little to say about its functional features. They did note that the camera now seems to be equipped with a flash.

Gizmodo says the device "was found lost in a bar in Redwood City" and that it was "camouflaged" to look like the current iPhone.

"We got it. We disassembled it. It's the real thing, and here are all the details," the blog says.
