The Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System is poised to open two new North Fulton facilities as part of Phase 1 of its library building program.
The new Milton Library will open at 11 a.m. July 16 at 855 Mayfield Road and adds a branch in a previously unserved portion of Fulton. That will be followed by the opening of the Alpharetta Library at 11 a.m. July 30 at 10 Park Plaza downtown. Both of the new libraries will total 25,000 square feet.
The existing Alpharetta branch at 238 Canton street will close permanently about two weeks prior to the debut of the new facility.
The new locations were made possible by a voter-approved library referendum held in November 2008. The resulting Phase 1 is providing for eight new branches around the county and two expansion projects.
