Cobb County officials unveiled a new electric vehicle charging station Wednesday at Powder Springs Station, 1150 Powder Springs St., Marietta.

The Level 3 DC Fast Charger will work with any electric car that supports a DC/faster charger plug.

This $30,000 station has been donated to the county by Nissan of North America.

Through a private subscription company, greenlots.com, the public will be able to use the charger “usually for a few dollars,” Cobb spokesman Robert Quigley told the AJC Wednesday.

Cobb government will use the charger for its growing fleet of electric vehicles, including 16 new Nissan LEAFs.

These leased vehicles are spread among various county departments, including the Tax Assessor’s Office, Risk Management, Juvenile Court, Senior Services and Fleet Management.
