Stockbridge Mayor Judy Neal has announced that she will not be running for re-election this fall. After qualifying for the race last month, she issued a statement Sept. 18 that indicated she would remove her name from the ballot.

Since May she has also filled the role of interim city manager, and she cited stress from the dual jobs as part of her reason for leaving office at the end of the year.

New city manager Randy Knighton starts Sept. 25. Neal won a special election last December to fill the final year of the term of Tim Thompson, who resigned a year earlier.
