The head of the Clayton County branch of the NAACP is calling for the Secretary of State’s Office to investigate discrepancies regarding Clayton Commission Chair Jeff Turner’s residency status. NAACP president Synamon Baldwin wants Secretary of State Brian Kemp to investigate “written statements submitted to the local Board of Elections by Mr. Turner for qualification” for the chairman’s job and possible voter fraud and voter manipulation. “I am appalled that Mr. Turner can sit in a position entrusted with the responsibility to determine and allocate our tax dollars while living and paying taxes in another county,” Baldwin said in her letter to Kemp’s office. An Atlanta Journal-Constitution story last week found several documents that showed Turner may live in Henry while claiming to live in Clayton. Turner took office in Clayton on Jan. 1.
