The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday upheld the murder conviction imposed against Jamall DeCarlos Mathis for the 2009 beating death of his 17-month-old son.

Mathis, who was 18 at the time of the murder, was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole after being convicted by a Clayton County jury. At trial, a medical examiner said the injuries to the baby, Ja ‘Mari, were consistent with him having been repeatedly struck on the head.
