A new tourism destination will soon be unveiled in metro Atlanta.

Since April 10, two artists have been working on a mural inside a pedestrian tunnel in Johns Creek that goes under Highway 141.

Coinciding with the Johns Creek International Festival, that mural will be made public on Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. The entrance of the tunnel is at 11715 Medlock Bridge Road.

The artists leading the project are Hanif Kureshi and William Massey.

Kureshi is an Indian artist and designer who specializes in street art and typography. His work has been exhibited in London, Venice, Paris and Milan. GQ named him one of the 50 most influential young Indians in 2016. This will be his first-ever completed work in the United States.

Massey is an Atlanta native working as a community artist and sculptor since 2012 and much of his work has been displayed along the Beltline.

The project is funded by money from the city’s hotel and motel tax, which was allocated for new tourism projects in Johns Creek. Several other local artists are volunteering on the project assisting Kureshi and Massey.

“Public art has the power to transform average public space into a cultural destination,” Lynda Smith of the city’s convention and visitor’s bureau said in a statement. “This public art project will connect Johns Creek to public art movements on a local, regional and global level."

Police posted a photo backing up their side of the story. “I swear it was yellow. It had just turned yellow, so it’s actually kind of ridiculous,” Rickman said. He was charged with a violation of obedience to traffic control devices.
