An early morning fire at a LaGrange home killed a woman and her 1-year-old daughter, authorities said.

The two were pronounced dead after firefighters pulled them from the Reeves Street home Sunday. They were found together in a bedroom, LaGrange fire Deputy Chief Phillip Rice said.

Firefighters were called to the home about 7:45 a.m. after they received an alert from an alarm company. When they arrived, they found smoke pouring from the attic but saw no visible flames, Rice said.

One crew worked to knock down the flames while another headed inside to search for the victims. It took nearly two hours before the fire was under control, according to Rice.

Officials on Monday identified the victims as 29-year-old Tatiana McFarland and her daughter, Mynova Satterwhite.

Half of their four-bedroom home was heavily damaged by the blaze, Rice said. The other two rooms and living spaces were only slightly damaged by the flames and smoke.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
