A mother and her teenage son were badly hurt Friday in a predawn house fire in south DeKalb County.

The fire broke out at a home in the 2300 block of Boulder Road, in a neighborhood off Gresham Road.

Channel 2 Action News reported that a mother and her 15-year-old son were severely burned before being able to escape out a window of the brick ranch-style house.

The victims were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital’s burn center.

Fire officials have not said what sparked the blaze.
