Seventeen repeat DUI offenders on Thursday made up the latest graduating class to complete a Fulton County State Court program designed to help offenders overcome their alcohol addictions.

The graduates completed an intensive program that includes court monitoring, drug and alcohol testing, unannounced home visits, counseling and treatment. The ceremony was held in a Fulton State Court courtroom and presided over by Judge Susan Forsling.

This marks the third graduating class since the DUI Court started up in June 2007, a court spokeswoman said. Its goal is to cut the recidivism rate of drunk drivers and enhance public safety on the roadways.
