The city of Milton, having acquired the Milton Country Club and now working to convert it from a private to a public facility, announced it has a contract in place to continue the tennis program with Terre O’Brien for the 2018 season.

The contract must be approved by the City Council and is to be on the consent agenda of the Feb. 21 council meeting, officials said. Besides having organized tennis teams, staff also intends to propose allowing the tennis courts to be reserved by the public for a small hourly fee.

Meanwhile, staff has hired a private company to evaluate the swimming pool and its equipment, and is working with swim team stakeholders including coaches and team participants.

A brief swim team survey is planned. Milton Mustangs members and their families are asked to email contact information to Parks and Recreation Director Jim Cregge at Jim.Cregge@cityofmiltonga.us.

At a council work session Jan. 22, the council gave staff preliminary guidance on short-term issues for the coming tennis and swim seasons. To view the video: http://bit.ly/2BqiiEU
