A North Fulton County city will provide fire-rescue and police services to a Forsyth County subdivision under an intergovernmental agreement approved recently by the Milton City Council.

The special arrangement is necessary for the Cottages at the Manor, just outside Milton city limits in Forsyth, because it is not readily accessible to Forsyth first responders and can be reached only from within Milton, according to the agreement.

“The provision of services by any party as contemplated under this agreement shall be at no cost to the other party,” according to the agreement between Milton and Forsyth County. The agreement has a term of 50 years but can be terminated by either party on 30 days’ notice.

Milton and Forsyth will coordinate with local 911 call centers so appropriate responders are dispatched on emergency calls, among other provisions of the agreement.
