The Milton City Council has approved a $17,000 contract to have a consultant survey  and prepare construction drawings for proposed trails at Providence Park.

Brumbelow-Reese and Associates Inc. will work under a professional services agreement with four components. Two are trails 8 feet wide and ADA complaint; one, a trail 4 feet wide; and one, an 8-foot-wide boardwalk.

The city last year signed a contract to accept a $200,000 grant to construct a half-mile of ADA-accessible trail from the Recreation Trails Program of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, staff said in a report to the council.

“The first step in the process is to lay out the trail and create construction documents that will be used to publicly bid the construction,” staff said.

Brumbelow-Reese will locate, stake and design three of the four trails, and locate and stake the boardwalk; a structural engineer will handle the design of the boardwalk under a different contract, staff said.
