Longtime law officer John Huey has been named interim police chief for the city of Milton.
Huey has been with the Milton PD since 2007, first as daywatch lieutenant, than as captain. Previously, he’d worked for DeKalb County Police for nearly three decades.
He replaces Deborah Harrell, the community’s first-ever top law officer, who left Dec. 4 for a job in corporate asset management.
Huey will serve until a new permanent chief is selected, and that the search for a replacement will begin after the first of the year, according to city officials.
