The latest chapter of the Northeast Crabapple Connector Project in downtown Milton is schedule to begin Tuesday, with a traffic shift implemented and traffic signals removed at Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive.

The signals will be replaced by a three-way stop with temporary pavement, striping, traffic barrels and signage as crews work to convert the intersection into a roundabout, according to a city announcement. “Drivers should expect delays as we transition and during this stage of construction,” the city said.

In addition to the roundabout, Charlotte is being extended from Mayfield to Birmingham Highway to give motorists a way to bypass congestion in the Crabapple area. The project is one of the first implemented in Milton under the TSPLOST approved by Fulton County voters outside Atlanta in November, 2016.
