A new roundabout in Milton that replaced the four-way stop at Freemanville and Providence roads opened for traffic Wednesday.
“The project will not be complete at this point, but this is the next phase of the construction process,” according to a city announcement.
The previous four-way stop caused "undesirable delays and congestion for drivers during the morning and afternoon peak rush hours," a project website says. The roundabout was one of four suggestions resulting from a study by the city and its consultant, Pond & Co. — from doing nothing, to installing traffic signals and turn lanes.
The approximately $2 million roundabout is funded by the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by Fulton County voters outside Atlanta in November, 2016. Information: https://bit.ly/2Iun1FI
