Milton residents or business owners are invited to register for the Winter 2019 Citizens Government Academy, an eight-week class that officials say gives students a “hands-on, behind-the-scenes” look at local government.

Classes will meet at City Hall and various Milton government buildings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays starting Feb. 5. They will be limited to 15 people at least 21 years of age.

Participants will learn about community services including emergency services, law enforcement, planning and zoning, finance and budget, court systems, public works, special projects and parks and recreation.

“Most importantly, participants will have the opportunity to connect with their local officials and city staff who provide these services,” according to a city announcement.

Interested persons must complete an application, https://bit.ly/2QtzJZd, and volunteer waiver form, https://bit.ly/2Tur6iM, and submit them to Courtney Spriggs, courtney.spriggs@cityofmiltonga.us
