The city of Milton has finalized its purchase of Providence Park at 13440 Providence Park Drive from Fulton County.

The Fulton County Commissioners Board of Commissioners voted to sell the 42-acre passive use tract in March for a state-mandated sum of $4,200. Crews have been doing cleanup work on the grounds for the past 11 years after contaminants turned up in groundwater and soils, necessitating the closure of the park in 2004. Both have now been declared safe.

The site includes a lodge, hiking trails, a rock-climbing cliff and lake. City parks department officials are working on renovation plans, and hope to have the park open for events and programs as soon as this fall.
