The Henry County Board of Education has scheduled another meeting regarding the adoption of the millage rate for the 2019-2020 school year.

There is no proposed increase as the millage rate is already at its current limit of 20 mills and has been since 2007. A recent increase in property values would result in higher property tax revenue even with the millage unchanged, and the law requires public hearings any time property tax revenue increases over the previous year.

The first two public hearings were scheduled for 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 15. The final hearing will be 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 22 shortly before the millage rate is adopted. The hearing will be at the district’s administrative offices, 33 N. Zack Hinton Pkwy. in McDonough.
