Midtown carjacking caught on victim’s home security system

Surveillance video shows man being carjacked at gun point

A Midtown man is hoping that security video will help Atlanta police catch the carjacker who stole his luxury car from his driveway at gunpoint earlier this week.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Brad Edmonds was outside his home at 9th Street and Argonne Avenue around 8 p.m. Monday when the armed suspect approached and demanded the keys to his 2011 Mercedes.

“What’s going through my mind is, ‘How do I make it through this? How do I even the scale?’” Edmonds told Channel 2. “I though about getting my gun, but I might not be here telling the story had I done that.”

The security video shows the gunman forcing Edmonds back into his home, and standing at the front door pointing his gun inside until he gets the keys to the Mercedes.

The video also showed the gunman opening only half of the iron gate across the victim’s driveway, and ripping a side mirror off the car as he drove out the partially-opened gate.

The car was later recovered in DeKalb County, according to Edmonds.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, and Edmonds told Channel 2 that he would add $1,000 to that reward.
