Men with purses rob Marietta pawn shop

Marietta police said they are looking for two men — one who dressed as a woman — accused of using duct tape to hold a pawn shop owner in a back room while they robbed the store.

The robbery occurred around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Cobb Pawn Shop on Cobb Parkway, Officer David Baldwin said.

One suspect was dressed as a woman, wore a wig and carried a yellow purse, Baldwin said. The other man was wearing a dark Adidas windbreaker and a dark Atlanta Braves hat with a tomahawk on the front, and he was carrying a red purse.

One of the bandits pulled a black revolver from a purse and ordered the shop employee to a back room, where the victim was bound with duct tape, according to police. The two suspects allegedly got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.

The duo arrived and left the store in a gray or black Suzuki Grand Vitara, believed to be between a 2009-2013 model, and drove south on Cobb Parkway, Baldwin said.
