Two Lithonia men involved in a fatal shooting pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a plea bargain in Cobb County on Tuesday.
Dedric Raheem Baisden, 21, and Dwight Foster Moore, 21, were both sentenced to 20 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Brandon Brazil.
Brazil was shot 11 times inside his home at the Sedgefield apartment complex off Allgood Road in January 2013.
Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jesse Evans said Brazil sold marijuana and had begun carrying a .380-caliber handgun after being robbed a few weeks before he died.
Robbery may have been the motive in the shootout involving three firearms, Evans said. The shootout may also have come amid a drug transaction, he said.
“That doesn’t make this a justified homicide, but it is a mitigated homicide,” Evans said.
The crime was solved after police got a tip Moore was involved, and he identified Baisden.
