The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office has received accreditation from the National Association of Medical Examiners. The accreditation marks Georgia’s third, including Fulton County and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Representatives from the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office were recognized at the Jan. 13 Board of Commissioner’s meeting for their nationally-recognized service to the county.

NAME-accredited offices represent the highest quality of death investigation systems. The accreditation process consists of a rigorous inspection of the physical facility and review of the office practices, including the implementation of policies and procedures. The overall objective of the accreditation is to ensure the application of the standards set forth by NAME will aid in the development and maintenance of a high caliber medicolegal death investigation system for the communities in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
