A Powder Springs native was shot Saturday night while celebrating his teammate's Heisman trophy win.
Sophomore Henry Famurewa was injured at an off-campus party for University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, according to SEC Country. Redshirt junior James Hearns and a third victim who was not immediately named were also injured.
All this happened the same night Jackson won the Heisman.
Famurewa earned an honorable mention for McEachern High School on the 2013 AAAAAA All-State team.
Famurewa played in nine games for Louisville this season, accumulating 10 tackles and a pair of sacks. Hearns — from Tallahassee, Florida — collected a team-high eight sacks for Louisville this season while also totaling 43 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles.
LSU defensive end Arden Key, who graduated from Hapeville Charter Academy in Atlanta, tweeted Sunday afternoon about the shooting.
The Cardinals face LSU on Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. in the Citrus Bowl at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.
