McDonough residents expressed their concerns at a Jan. 15 town hall meeting about increased traffic that would likely result from proposed improvements along Phillips Drive, according to city officials.
The proposed improvements include a repaved Phillips Drive from end to end, work done on drainage ditches, and sidewalks on the side of the street where none currently exist.
Most of the residents at the meeting stated their belief that the work would make the street a cut-through for many who do not live there.
Councilwoman Gail Notti said that the completion of McDonough Parkway would ease some of the traffic concerns.
Many residents agreed with that assessment and seemed eager to see some movement in that direction.
It was determined that the design team would go back to the drawing board, and a second meeting is planned for early April to discuss new ideas.
