One of Henry County’s longest-running festivals will not take place in 2020.

After postponing the annual Geranium Festival on the McDonough square from its traditional mid-May date to September amid COVID-19 concerns, city officials along with the McDonough Lions Club, the event’s primary sponsor, announced June 30 that this year’s event would be cancelled. “This decision was made in the best interest of the health, safety, and well-being of our vendors, volunteers, visitors, and citizens of Henry County,” according to a statement posted to the festival’s website. The next Geranium Festival is now scheduled for May 15, 2021.

Applications for potential vendors and other participants will be available in November.
