The McDonough City Council voted May 21 to purchase the property at 162 Keys Ferry Street, next door to City Hall, for $400,000.

The vote came without discussion after executive session at the end of the meeting. A city official later stated that the purpose of the property acquisition was to provide for additional parking at City Hall in the future and the possible expansion of City Hall itself. Specific decisions in that regard will be made in the coming months. A building currently sits on the property.
