Avondale Estates Mayor Jonathan Elmore delivers his second State of the City address beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza.
The evening’s primary themes include the South City Partners mixed-use project that broke ground in January, a critical first step for spurring new development throughout Avondale. He’ll also review the current talks with Avila Real Estates, which owns 13 acres north of downtown.
One of Elmore’s main goals since first taking office two years ago was revamping the Downtown Development Association, which given a complete overhaul last fall. Earlier this year the city completed an intergovernmental agreement where it now pays the DDA for services like organizing special events, reviving the long-dormant business association, marketing downtown and recruiting new business, among others.
Additionally Sam Collier will get introduced as the DDA’s recently elected chair.
