Woodstock Mayor Donnie Henrique said the city made significant progress on several fronts in 2014, but he warned in his State of the City Address Monday night that much remains to be done.

Henrique touted construction of 280 new single-family homes in the city last year. He said more than 80 of those homes were built downtown, which also saw 31 new businesses open creating 140 jobs.

Also in the city’s downtown, plans for a long-discussed amphitheater were finalized. Henrique said other improvements to the city’s infrastructure also forged ahead, with completion of several walking/biking and mountain biking trails and the final phase of widening Ridgewalk Parkway well underway.

The mayor also noted several significant recognitions, including an improvement in the Woodstock Fire Department Insurance Services Office rating from 3 to 1, the highest possible.
