Marietta zoning hearings planned for November
A single-family development, a halfway house and a church expansion are among the requests to be considered by the Marietta City Council 7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Council Chambers, Marietta City Hall, 205 Lawrence St., Marietta.
First, public hearings on these matters will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, also in the Council Chambers, by the Marietta Planning Commission for recommendations to the City Council.
- InLine Communities of Marietta is requesting rezoning for around nine acres on Hedges Street and West Dixie Avenue for a 78-unit single-family planned residential development. Most of the present 31 parcels are owned by the Marietta Redevelopment Corp. with many of the houses already demolished or in disrepair.
- For a halfway house, a special land use permit is requested by Turner Hill Community Development Corp. - on behalf of Turner Chapel AME Church - at 460 and 462 Birney St. to continue its nine-year operation of Harmony House, providing shelter for up to six homeless ex-offenders - each for no more than 90 days.
- Saint Joseph's Catholic Church has submitted a special land use permit application for around a half-acre at 557 Campbell Hill St. to use for small group meetings, outdoor functions and/or a pastor's residence. The main church campus, on about 8.5 acres, is to the north at 589 Campbell Hill St.
